NiW 2026: President Nick Daniels Rallies Activists to Secure the Future of the Profession

President Nick Daniels opened NATCA in Washington today with a powerful mandate for the Union’s legislative activists: leverage the hard-won victories of the past year to finish the mission on Capitol Hill. Reflecting on a year defined by legislative triumphs despite unprecedented challenges throughout the National Airspace System, Daniels emphasized that NATCA’s strength remains its unified, expert voice.

What we are navigating right now, what this membership has been through over the past 16 months, is unlike anything NATCA has faced in its history,” Daniels said. “Despite these challenges what we have accomplished is unlike anything any other federal union has accomplished.”

Looking ahead to the 2026 advocacy cycle, Daniels outlined a bold agenda for the week’s meetings with lawmakers. The Union’s priorities focus on securing the future of the National Airspace System and the professionals who operate it by improving staffing; modernization and infrastructure; and mental health protections.

“This is an important moment to build relationships with congressional staff and educate them on our issues,” said Daniels.
