U.S. Rep. Greg Stanton Labor Roundtable
Deer Valley ATCT (DVT) FacRep and DVT Legislative Rep. Alyssa Martinez represented our profession and Union at U.S. Rep. Greg Stanton (Ariz.,4th)’s Labor Advisory Board Roundtable in June, in Phoenix. During the discussion, Rep. Stanton mentioned the likelihood of a government shutdown. Martinez explained how shutdowns impact the National Airspace System (NAS) and air traffic staffing numbers, which are already the lowest they have been in the last decade. Martinez described the shutdowns’ cascading effect, not only with training and staffing, but with the many modernization and other projects NATCA works on to develop and grow to keep the NAS the safest in the world.
“Congressman Stanton has been a friend of NATCA for many years and is always eager to meet with us to find out what we need to keep aviation safe,” Martinez said. “He is a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and is a key player in the FAA Reauthorization this year.” Learn more about NATCA’s legislative activism, opportunities to get involved, and NATCA’s efforts from your National Legislative Committee.
