NATCA Supports Udall-Collins Amendment – (3/18/2013)

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association today is supporting the consideration and adoption of the Udall-Collins amendment to the Senate’s Continuing Resolution bill. This amendment would give the heads of federal agencies and departments the discretion necessary to implement sequestration cuts in a smarter, more efficient way. Right now, sequestration cuts are automatic and arbitrary. They are indiscriminately cutting programs and have led to the scheduled furlough of all air traffic controllers and aviation safety professionals at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). If adopted, the amendment could help mitigate the expected detrimental effects on the National Airspace System and passengers as a result of sequestration.
