Sons of Italy Foundation to Honor NATCA President Paul Rinaldi
WASHINGTON – The National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) is proud to announce its President, Paul Rinaldi, will receive the 2016 Humanitarian Award from the Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF). The SIF is the philanthropic arm of the Sons of Italy, the nation’s largest and oldest organization for people of Italian heritage.
Rinaldi, along with other leaders in public service, business and philanthropy, will be honored at SIF’s National Education & Leadership Awards (NELA) Gala in Washington, D.C., on May 26.
“It’s an honor to receive this award,” said Rinaldi. “SIF is a special organization to me not only because of its preservation of Italian American culture, but also for its many philanthropic efforts, including support for our nation’s wounded troops and veterans. I thank the Foundation for this recognition.”
Rinaldi is currently serving his third term as NATCA’s President. He is the first person in the union’s history to serve three terms in the position. In his role, Rinaldi provides a voice for almost 20,000 air traffic control and aviation safety professionals and has helped establish an unprecedented path of collaboration between NATCA and the federal agencies and organizations with which the union works.
SIF has contributed $164 million to education, medical research, disaster relief, cultural preservation, and other special projects, with $61 million of it given to scholarships. Proceeds for the NELA Gala will help fund these philanthropic efforts.
