National Common Automation Platform (CAP) Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
The National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) is requesting four (4) volunteers to serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on the National Common Automation Platform (CAP) Collaborative Workgroup (CWG).
The Air Traffic Systems Directorate (AJM-2) is responsible for the acquisition, development, deployment, and sustainment of air traffic systems that support controllers in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of users throughout the National Airspace System (NAS). The CAP CWG will support activities related to the acquisition, development, and deployment of a new common automation platform intended for use in the terminal, En Route, and Oceanic environments.
The CWG will provide a collaborative approach for the Parties to acquire and deploy a system that enhances safety and improves efficiency across the NAS.
The NATCA CAP CWG will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:
- Participate in CAP acquisition activities, including testing, training, technical interchange meetings, and system demonstrations.
- Assist in operational test events in preparation for national deployment in the tower, terminal, En Route, and Oceanic environments.
- Provide input on operational needs to ensure operational requirements are appropriately identified.
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be a Member in good standing
- Must be a current Certified Professional Controller (CPC) with at least 3 years or more of currency at their facility of record
Experience in the following is preferred but not required:
- Experience in multiple Air Traffic Domains (i.e., Tower, TRACON, En Route, Oceanic)
- Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, etc.)

TRAVEL:
Limited to Frequent Travel is Required. Travel requirements will vary depending on scheduled meetings and related activities.
