NiW 2026: Anthony Schifano Honored with Trish Gilbert Legislative Activism Award

NATCA President Nick Daniels and Executive Vice President (EVP) Mick Devine joined National Legislative Committee (NLC) Chair David Skarphol and Vice Chair Allison Schwaegel at NATCA in Washington to present the Trish Gilbert Legislative Activism Award to NLC Southern Region Representative Anthony Schifano (Charlotte ATCT, CLT).

Established in 2009 as the National Legislative Activism Award, the honor was renamed in 2010 to recognize former EVP Trish Gilbert’s legacy as one of the most effective activists in the Union’s history. Gilbert, who served as NLC Chair before her tenure as EVP, set the benchmark for advocacy through an unparalleled work ethic and a drive to move the Union’s legislative efforts from “good” to “great.”

Schifano was selected for this honor in recognition of extraordinary dedication to NATCA’s grassroots mission. By stepping up to serve the Union through tireless engagement with lawmakers, Schifano has significantly influenced the Union’s ability to advance its legislative priorities on Capitol Hill. This award recognizes individuals whose fervent dedication to activism embodies the spirit of service and inspires others to engage in the political process to protect the profession and the National Airspace System.
