U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez, Jr. Tours Newark ATCT
On Sept. 6, U.S. Representative Robert Menendez, Jr. (N.J.-8) visited Newark Liberty ATCT (EWR). Rep. Menendez’s district includes the southern half of EWR. FacRep Mike Brennan and National Legislative Committee member Giuseppe DePinto (Newark ATCT, EWR) facilitated the tour for the congressman and two of his staffers: District Director Jeremy Julis and Sr. Legislative Assistant Rylee M. Stirn.
As a former commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), Rep. Menendez was well aware of the interactions that take place between the PANYNJ and the air traffic controllers at EWR. Brennan and DePinto discussed a number of issues with Rep. Menendez, including FAA Reauthorization, controller staffing, airfield and airspace modifications, equipment and infrastructure, the N90 to PHL move, environmental sustainability, and helicopter routes/noise complaints.
In a subsequent Instagram post, Rep. Menendez Jr. touted our members for “the incredible work that keeps our skies safe” and committed to providing us “with the resources necessary to do this important work as efficiently as possible.”
