Newark ATCT NATCA Member Talks with U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez
Newark ATCT (EWR) member Giuseppe “Joe” DePinto represented our Union at a reception hosted by U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez (N.J.-8) in Jersey City, N.J., on Jan. 26. Other notable guests in attendance included former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey and other local elected officials.
Menendez highlighted the funding initiatives for the Gateway Project, emphasizing its significance for improving cross-Hudson transit for commuters, including air traffic controllers. DePinto conveyed NATCA’s concerns regarding repetitive continuing resolutions (CRs) and staffing issues, and receiving assurance from Menendez on resolving these challenges.
“I got the chance to personally speak with Rep. Menendez,” DePinto said. “I thanked him again for his support and work and expressed concern over the repetitiveness of the CRs and temporary spending bills.”
