Virginia NATCA Members Attend Event for U.S. Rep. Jennifer McClellan

On Dec. 11, 2023, Arianna Bocci (Washington Center, ZDC), Aubrey Farrar (Washington National ATCT, DCA), and Andy Rhodes (Potomac TRACON, PCT) attended an event for U.S. Representative Jennifer McClellan (Va.-4). Also in attendance were U.S. Reps. Abigail Spanberger (Va.-7) and Bobby Scott (Va.-3).

Rhodes and Bocci spoke to Rep. Spanberger about the need to pass multi-year FAA Reauthorization as well as the potential lapse in funding with expiring continuing resolution on Jan. 19, 2024. She expressed her frustration and pledged to remain steadfast in protecting NATCA and supporting our interests. Farrar had a chance to speak with Rep. Scott as well about our Union’s priorities.

Rhodes had a few minutes to speak with Rep. McClellan where he thanked her for her support of FAA Reauthorization and stressed the importance of making sure the CRWG numbers and max hiring provisions remain intact. 

The group also had an opportunity to speak with Briana Sewell, who is going to be running to fill Rep. Spanberger’s seat in 2024. She expressed an interest in aviation and Bocci, Farrar, and Rhodes gave her a brief rundown on NATCA’s needs regarding staffing and funding.
