New SSRI Approved Medication
NATCA members who require a medical clearance should be aware that a new medication, Bupropion (Wellbutrin), has been approved for use in the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) program.
In accordance with the existing MOU between the parties, NATCA bargaining unit employees (BUEs) who require a medical clearance may receive Special Consideration medical clearance while being treated with certain SSRIs. The previously approved SSRIs were Fluoxetine (Prozac), Sertraline (Zoloft), Citalopram (Celexa), and Escitalopram (Lexapro). The FAA has now approved Bupropion (Wellbutrin) for the SSRI program.
The addition of Bupropion (Wellbutrin) to the SSRI program helps to ensure that a greater number of Air Traffic Control Specialists are able to continue working while receiving the medical treatment that they need.
