Congratulations to NATCA members Marco Smith and Brian Sparks of Charlotte ATCT/TRACON (CLT) who were recognized on Wednesday, June 21, at a meeting of the Charlotte NATCA Executive Board for outstanding achievement for work on recent integration of the new Advanced Electronic Flight Strips (AEFS) system. Their work is not only helping advance safety and efficiency at CLT, but also setting the precedent for integrating the new technology at facilities in the future. This achievement is particularly significant because the transition took place this month, during one of the busiest flying times of year and some of the most challenging weather conditions. These additionally challenging circumstances actually helped the team to identify and correct issues with the new system and procedures, Sparks said. Read more about this technology.
