OJTI Simulation Training Tracking Update

On December 6, 2024, the Parties at the national level reached an agreement to increase the premium pay for on-the-job-training (OJT) instruction to 25% and to make simulation training eligible for the same 25% OJTI premium pay. As of Sunday, January 12, 2025, new “Other Duty” codes have been added to CRU ART to track time spent conducting and receiving simulation training. The new code, PROVIDE SIMULATION OJT, must be used to ensure OJT instructors are properly compensated for time spent conducting simulation training. Trainees receiving simulation training should be assigned the RECEIVE SIMULATION OJT activity code.

Additionally, CRU ART and the Department of Transportation’s payroll system, CASTLE, have now incorporated the changes to premium pay. The increased OJTI premium pay percentage and payment for simulation training should appear on affected bargaining unit employees’ (BUE’s) Leave and Earning Statement (LES) starting with the current pay period, which will be paid on February 4, 2025. BUEs are encouraged to verify their pay and direct questions to their regional leadership.

In Solidarity,
The National Executive Board
