Life Saving First Aid and CPR Training is Available to All Members at No Cost!

In the United States, more than 250,000 people a year die from a sudden cardiac arrest, but this doesn’t have to be the case. Thanks to the invention and distribution of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), we now have the means to help our fellow coworkers in an emergency. Better yet, the FAA offers all employees covered by a NATCA collective bargaining agreement the opportunity to attend CPR and first aid training free of charge!

The NATCA OSHA Committee has put together an information sheet that explains how you and your coworkers can receive CPR/AED and First Aid training.

Each year the Helping Hearts Award recognizes the facility that completes the highest percentage of employees for training in CPR and AED. The award is presented annually at Communicating for Safety.

In 2024, the Central Florida TRACON (F11), won the Helping Hearts Award. After hearing of how an AED saved the life of a NATCA member in the Honolulu Control Facility (HCF), F11 Safety Council member Glen Travis began working with the agency to get as many of the people at F11 and MCO Tower certified in CPR and AED.

Take advantage of this life-saving training opportunity, that could save the life of your coworker but could also make the difference in saving a life at home where the vast majority of sudden cardiac arrests occur.
