NOVEMBER 1st, 2024 New England Bi-Monthly Regional Update

From Steve Brown, NATCA New England Regional ARVP

Election Day is Next Week

The United States federal election is next week and we encourage all NATCA members to exercise their right to vote!

Under the MOU, bargaining unit employees (BUEs) may request up to four (4) hours of excused absence to vote on election day or on an early voting day.

BUEs may use excused absence for travel time to and from their polling location but may not use excused absence during a non-workday or during overtime work hours. The FAA will grant requests for excused absence subject to staffing and workload and will make necessary operational adjustments to accommodate a BUE’s request. BUEs may use excused absence for the purposes outlined in the MOU multiple times per year but are limited to four (4) hours per election event.

Solidarity Event Recap

From Rebecca Dubois, BED Member

At our solidarity event on October 22nd, New England NATCA members had the opportunity to chat with their peers and local board members about any issues or questions about the union. We also had the opportunity to talk with President-elect Nick Daniels and Executive Vice President-elect Mick Devine, learning about the importance of the PAC and how it affects the future of our union. During this event, NATCA New England members increased donations to the PAC by $15,000 per election cycle.

In between these important discussions, we had a fun time learning the proper techniques of throwing an axe. These events are a great way to meet new people in our career field and develop a better understanding of what our union is doing for us. We hope to see you at the next one!

OWCP Information

If you sustain a physical or traumatic stress injury while on duty, notify your rep. You have rights per The Department of Labor. NATCA Reps understand the processes, regulations and proper way to file forms in order to get the time off you need to recover. For members that are unaware, a traumatic stress injury in our profession is one that is the result of an unfortunate safety event such as an accident, loss of separation, or runway incursion.
