October 29, 2024 – New England RVP Round-up
From Kevin Curtiss, NATCA New England Regional Vice President
Good Morning NATCA New England,
Thank you to everyone that participated in The NNE Membership survey last week. We had excellent participation. Let’s quickly dive into the results.
82% answered yes that NATCA New England effectively communicates. NNE needs to get as close to 100% as possible.
56% answered they primarily receive information via email and 20% via Social Media.
65% said they skim The NNE Bi Monthly email while 22% read it in depth.
Myself and The Region’s ARVPs will be engaging with our Communications team to take that data and continue to improve how we communicate with our members.
55% stated they are in favor of timely SMS messages that alert members to important information, timelines, events, etc. I believe they work when used and are easily opted out of for members that prefer not to receive them. NNE will use them in the future.
84% are likely or definitely willing to participate in a regional event, team building exercise, gathering, etc. NNE is currently working on putting together an Election Night watch party in The Region and a Trivia Bus Trip.
69% of members who responded are familiar with NATCA 101 yet 74% have not attended. NNE is exploring ways to surge our participation rate. NATCA 101 is a two hour class that I believe every member should take. NATCA 101 is held on the 15th of every month.
We asked where members could make an impact and the responses were great.
I want NNE members to know something. You don’t have to be a Facility or Area Representative to get involved or make an impact on your working conditions or our Union. All it takes is desire and NNE will find a place for you to thrive. It is my job to tap into any passion that is unfulfilled but know that you can reply to this or any email and you will be heard.
88% responded that they were familiar with The Trump Administration Executive Orders impact on federal labor unions.
96% of members that took the survey expressed their desire for NATCA to negotiate a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Thank You again NATCA New England for expressing yourself to your leaders so that we can continue to be successful in the region.
In The next RVP-Roundup, I’ll address some of the concerns, questions and feedback from the comments included in the survey. By then, I’ll also have attended the first NEB meeting (virtual) with the new board and will give an update.
Talk soon,
HK
