U.S. Senator Mike Braun at 2024 NiW: Bipartisan Efforts to Boost FAA Hiring
NATCA was proud to have U.S. Senator Mike Braun of Indiana join us Thursday morning to speak to our 2024 #NATCAinWashington attendees.
Senator Braun is a lifelong Hoosier, raised in Jasper, Ind. Prior to his election to the U.S. Senate in 2018, he was the founder and CEO of Meyer Distributing, a company he built in his hometown of Jasper. He also served as a member of his local school board and as a state senator.
Last September, Braun introduced the Bipartisan Air Traffic Controllers Hiring Act of 2023 alongside Senators John Boozman (Ark.), Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), Ben Ray Lujan (N.M.), Roger Marshall (Kan.), and Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.). The bill would require the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct maximum hiring of air traffic controllers (ATC) at the FAA Academy — equivalent to approximately 1,800 individuals per year.
