Happy International Day of the Controller
Oct. 20 is International Day of the Air Traffic Controller. The international observance marks the anniversary of IFATCA, which was founded on Oct. 20, 1961, and celebrates the people who work 24/7 to make air travel the safest possible mode of transportation. NATCA is proud to represent so many hardworking controllers. Your job isn’t easy, especially with ongoing staffing shortages, threats of government shutdowns, and inconsistent funding for important technological improvements. The public doesn’t see the work of air traffic controllers, but they feel the impacts of your dedication to safety every day. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to this profession and to the safety of the National Airspace System (NAS).
