U.S. Reps. LaLota and D’Esposito Visit New York TRACON
U.S. Reps. Nick LaLota (N.Y., 1st) and Anthony D’Esposito (N.Y., 4th) recently toured New York TRACON (N90). The facility is located in New York’s 4th Congressional District, but many of its employees live in the first district.
NATCA members showed the members of Congress the operations floor where they observed the Liberty (LIB) and Newark (EWR) sectors. NATCA members shared with LaLota and D’Esposito how approach controls work and showed them the airspace and flight patterns. After the tour, NATCA members sat down with Reps. LaLota and D’Esposito to answer questions. The members of Congress expressed their commitment to addressing any challenges the controllers at New York TRACON might face.
After the visit, Rep. LaLota tweeted, “It was great to meet with local air traffic controllers to learn more about their work to support our community.” N90 FacRep Joe Segretto said that he looks forward to continuing to build this relationship. Segretto is excited to invite the congressmen back for another facility visit in the future.
