Aviation Groups Urge Senate Leadership to Pass FAA Bill
(Aug. 15, 2018)
Dozens of aviation organizations have urged Senate leadership to “move expeditiously” its long-term FAA reauthorization bill as lawmakers return from a nearly two-week recess.
“The FAA and the traveling public have been subjected to short-term extensions of the FAA’s authority since 2015, and these stopgap measures have negatively impacted the FAA’s activities,” the groups wrote in a letter, which is to be sent out to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y).
Writes Politico: “Before resuming its rare August work period, senators were still sorting through a basket of amendments and determining a process for its 3-year reauthorization bill, S. 1405 (115) that will allow it to come to the floor.”
