Staff of Congresswoman Susan Brooks Visit Indianapolis Center
Earlier this month members of Congresswoman Susan Brooks’s staff came to Indianapolis Center (ZID) for a tour of the facility led by NATCA Indiana Legislative Coordinator Mike Orr, training manager Wayne Rooney, and ZID President Jim Larson. Rep. Brooks represents the 5th District in Indiana.
The tour began in the control room with the Traffic Management Unit (TMU). The visitors met NATCA member and Brooks’s constituent Ryan Olmstead and TMU supervisor Ronnie Coursey, who explained the ins and outs of traffic management. From there, the group split off to different areas to talk about the day-to-day job. Guests asked questions about training, hiring, and staffing. The group also had the opportunity to listen in on live traffic.
The group also viewed the dynamic simulator lab where ZID member Bob Obma explained training. One staffer got to take a seat and pretend to be an air traffic controller. Afterwards, the visitors experienced a flight simulator and one of the staffers got to land a virtual plane.
“It was such an awesome and informative tour, we cannot thank you enough,” Brooks’s District Staff Assistant Jennifer Bagi said. “We cannot stop talking about it! What you and everyone does is so impressive. Words cannot describe.”
