NATCA Fully Supports Bill From Sen. Blunt to Stop Controller Furloughs – (4/15/2013)

NATCA supports Sen. Roy Blunt’s (R-Mo.) new legislation, which would end furloughs for the air traffic control workforce and keep the system moving as the world’s safest and most efficient. High traffic volume airports operate on a very tight timeline. With fewer controllers in towers and radar facilities due to sequestration-caused furloughs, fewer flights may be able to land and take off, causing backups that may worsen throughout the day and over time. NATCA fully supports Senator Blunt’s bill so that air traffic control and the plans of air travelers through the spring and summer are not needlessly disrupted.
