The National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) today applauds the full funding of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2015, as part of the passage of the “Cromnibus” spending bill approved last week. At the same time, NATCA President Paul Rinaldi warns that sequestration remains a threat to the modernization and stability of the National Airspace System (NAS).

NBAA: Napa Airport Provides Staging Area for Earthquake Response

From NBAA: "The earthquake shattered the windows in the tower, putting it temporarily out of service, but operations are continuing with radio clearances from nearby Oakland Center. There is already a contractor on-site repairing the tower, and airport authorities have set up a temporary tower on the airfield, which should be operational during the first week of September." NATCA Facility Spotlight of the Week: Guam CERAP

Before relocating, ZUA was on Andersen Air Force base and originally began running air traffic control services in the late 1940s. The level 8 facility is now located near the main international airport. Nineteen NATCA members work at ZUA; one member is represented by Region X. The controllers are responsible for three airports that have Class D airspace, a lot of Class A airspace, ATC assigned airspace (ATCAA), and a few Class E, G, and military warning areas.
