NATCA Statement on Senate Passage of FAA Funding Extension - (9/16/2011)
NATCA
applauds the Senate for voting overwhelmingly on Thursday night to temporarily
fund the Federal Aviation Administration and keep more than 4,000 critical
employees on the job.
The
move will ensure continued safety in our skies. It will also keep hundreds of
engineers, architects, airport safety inspectors and others working on projects
from Newark to Boston to Baltimore.
Senators
voted 92-6 to extend the FAA funding through January. FAA funding was set to
expire tonight without reauthorization.
NATCA now urges
Congress to work on a long-term FAA funding measure. The stakes are simply too
high to do otherwise
