NATCA Says Tempe's Attempts to Address Safety Concerns about Site of New Stadium Are a Step in the Right Direction - (8/3/2001)

WASHINGTON - The National Air Traffic Controllers Association, which had safety concerns about the site of the new Arizona Cardinals football stadium, is pleased that the city of Tempe, Ariz., is taking responsible steps to address these concerns with its plan to move the stadium site off the center line of air traffic.

NATCA believes this is a step in the right direction.

“Everyone involved should take a calm and thoughtful look at this new proposal and determine if it adequately addresses safety,” NATCA President John Carr said. “NATCA puts safety first and will review this idea with safety as its sole litmus test. We will study the new proposal in good faith and comment in due course.”
