Longtime NATCA member and former PATCO controller Tim Fodor from Los Angeles Center (ZLA) has been approved for the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (VLTP). Tim has been the Staff Rep at ZLA and has been active in NATCA for numerous years. He joined PATCO and stayed in PATCO until he found himself without a job after the 1981 strike. He was rehired in September of 2001 and joined NATCA his first day back.

Since 2009, Tim has had severe kidney stone complications. This has resulted in three surgeries and the possibility of another in the near future. In addition, he has chronic back problems that have further complicated matters. Tim also is the sole support for his daughter and her three children.

Tim has exhausted all of his leave and is in need of our help. Please consider assisting him. For more information on all members in need of leave donations, please click HERE.

Charter Members Now Included in New Platinum Retired Membership Program

NATCA has been proud to stand with our members who are now at or nearing retirement. We invite those retiring to remain a valued member of the NATCA family by signing up for a retired membership.

NATCA recently implemented a new Platinum Retired Membership Program! This membership level is an exclusive membership available at no cost to our NATCA members who fall into one or both of the following categories:
  1. NATCA members who paid dues as active members for 20+ consecutive years immediately prior to their retirement.
  2. Charter Members who paid dues as active members consecutively from the inception of their membership until their retirement date.
For those not eligible for the Platinum Program, we offer two other options for Retired NATCA Active Volunteers (RNAV) membership: the first is a $35 Annual Membership and the second is a Lifetime Membership at a one-time cost of $350.

A new FAA video describes the Equivalent Lateral Spacing Operation (ELSO), which adds two departure routes out of Atlanta (ATL). The angle between departure routes decreased from 15 degrees to 10, and the time between departures was reduced from two minutes to one, taking advantage of Area Navigation (RNAV) technology.
