NATCA/FAA career: February 2007 to present.

Born and raised, other places of living: Born in Quanah, Texas; Raised in Quanah, Texas; Los Angeles; Southport, N.C.; Richmond, Va.

Education: High school diploma, some college while in the Air Force.

Family: Daughter Jayla, Girlfriend Nacole.

Q: How did you become a NATCA member?
A: I joined when I first got hired into the FAA.

Q: Did you have any family members that were involved in unions?
A: Two uncles in Postal Workers Union.

Q: How did you get involved, and what are you involved in with NATCA?
A: Facility Representative at LAS since January 2012, NATCA co-lead for Recurrent Training. I told my RVP, Hamid Ghaffari, that I was very interested in what was then CRM (Crew Resource Management) and wanted to help NATCA in any capacity I could. He recommended me when a national solicitation went out for CRM Cadre! CRM eventually morphed into Recurrent Training, and I became one of the co-leads.

Q: What made you decide to take on leadership roles within NATCA?
A: I think leadership chooses you, more than you choose to be a leader. I thought it was important to make a positive impact on a profession that I love, and in causes that I believe in. NATCA gives me the opportunity to do both!

Q: What's the most rewarding part of being a leader in NATCA? What's the most challenging?
A: Helping others and solving problems is the most rewarding part of being a FacRep. Time management is the most challenging aspect.

Q: Out of all your involvement within NATCA, what speaks to you the most?
A: The fact that the leadership in the Union, both past and present, didn’t sell out the future of the Union for their own benefit when faced with the opportunity to do so during past labor negotiations. They fought, and got a great contract for members that were not even in the FAA yet. I will always be grateful and indebted for that!

Q: Do you have any hobbies or any other activities you enjoy outside of NATCA?
A: Not really I am kinda lame. I watch, play and read about sports a lot.

Q: Has there been a favorite moment for you while at NATCA?
A: The (2012) Denver Convention.

Q: Do you have any advice/tips/messages for members who would like to get involved?
A: Don’t be afraid to step up and contribute; all different types of skill sets and personalities are needed to continue to carry on the great legacy of our Union. Find a mentor, pick their brain and join a noble cause.

Let's go beyond your involvement with NATCA:

I have a major phobia of: Alley cats.
My specialty meal to cook is: Tacos.
If I could pick four people to have dinner with, dead or alive, I would choose: Tupac Shakur, Kobe Bryant, Jerry Jones, Ivan Drago.
My favorite sports team that I live and breathe is: Dallas Cowboys.
Dogs or cats? Dogs. I am afraid of cats.
NFL or NCAA Football? NFL - Cowboys all day!
