THIS WEEK’S NOTEBOOK: NATCA Booth Popular at AAAE Conference
Friday, June 07, 2013

The NATCA Exhibit Booth at the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Annual Conference & Exposition was consistently busy throughout the event, held May 19-21 in Reno, Nev. Kelvin Hale (Region X ARVP) along with Jordan Thielker and Jacqui Smith from the National Office Outreach & Special Events Department staffed the booth.

Each day, many AAAE members and executives stopped by the booth, profusely thanking NATCA for their continued and vocal support during sequestration, and especially with the prospective contract tower closures.

In addition to the outpouring of gratitude that was expressed, many major and regional airport directors stopped by the booth to discuss impending issues with sequestration. Plans for outreach and grassroots efforts at the airports in the new fiscal year were discussed, and all were very receptive to working with NATCA on this should these issues arise.

Overall, Smith said, it was a great experience and opportunity for NATCA to connect with AAAE members, executives, and staff and to strengthen ties and relationships with a key group of aviation stakeholders in this country.
