Influential and Successful Article 48 Rep Chuck McAleavy Retires
Thursday, February 14, 2013

Chuck McAleavy from Chicago Center (ZAU) recently retired. Many of NATCA’s members probably do not know who Chuck is but he played a very important role in the establishment of NATCA’s participation in the Traffic Management Advisor (TMA) or Time Based Flow Management (TBFM) world.

When the National Executive Board appointed McAleavy to the Article 48 position, it was a new area for NATCA. Many of his counterparts were not really excited to involve NATCA in their project. However, McAleavy’s professionalism and knowledge of what the controllers needed was invaluable as NATCA worked to improve this product.

He quickly became a resource for the Safety and Technology Department on other issues in the Agency’s Systems Operations branch as well. The Safety and Technology Department congratulates Chuck on his retirement and wishes him well in the future.

“While Mr. McAleavy may be retired, his work is still showing benefits for the union,” Director of Safety and Technology Dale Wright said.
