CELEBRATING NATCA’S 25th ANNIVERSARY – JUNE 19!
Thursday, June 07, 2012

Help Us Mark This Historic and Special Occasion: NATCA's 25th anniversary is coming up on June 19! How will your facility celebrate this exciting milestone? The National Office is celebrating the milestone by giving back to the community. We are sponsoring lunch for the homeless and volunteering at a local Washington, D.C. nonprofit, So Others Might Eat (SOME). NCF has donated $1,000 to go towards SOME Summer Care Packages, which include essentials for the homeless to battle the harsh city summers.
Will you have a local membership meeting, volunteer at a local nonprofit, make a special cake, ask each member in your facility to wear a certain shirt or color or host other activities? Please send your ideas and any photos/materials to Communications Specialist Hillary Stroud at hstroud@natcadc.org.
Packets Arriving At Your Facility: Last week, NATCA sent out special packets to every facility with a variety of materials and items, including 25th anniversary lapel pins, wristbands and posters. Most facilities are receiving them this week.
NATCA Push to Wounded Warrior Project Fundraising Goal: Currently, NATCA is perched at a little over $21,000, less than $4,000 from our $25,000 goal.
NATCA has been in full support of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), and even though the Patriot Run Across America has come to an end, our fundraising efforts haven't.
WWP is a nonprofit that aims to gain awareness for wounded warriors by word of mouth and by public support through monetary donations. In addition, the nonprofit helps injured service members adjust to their new lives by creating an arena for jobs and social interactions, while also providing aid programs to benefit injured service members.
As of May 1, WWP has helped more than 17,500 service members who served on or after the September 11 attacks. On that day, America watched in horror as approximately 3,000 people died, including firefighters and rescue workers.
Your donations go a long way, and we've come too close to our goal to stop now. Visit the NATCA fundraising Web site today and give a little to those who have served this country.

The NATCA Insider Series - Profiles of Veteran NATCA Members: Throughout the past 10 months, Communications and Public Affairs Specialist Sarah Dunn has profiled one veteran member from each region as a way of reflecting on 25 years of NATCA activism and unity through those members’ eyes and experiences. Last week in the The NATCA Insider, Dunn profiled NCT member Steve McCoy from the Western Pacific Region. To read this story, please click HERE. Come back to the Insider next Friday to read Sarah's profile of veteran Region X member Curt Howe.
