"One FAA Culture," a cultural change that FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt, NATCA President Paul Rinaldi and NATCA Executive Vice President Trish Gilbert have been actively promoting within the industry, continues to be of importance in supporting the collaboration and solidarity efforts. AWP Local President/ARP National Representative Sam Samad has played a major role in supporting these efforts and has recently received an award for his contributing achievements.

During the 2011 Western-Pacific Regional Administrators Awards Ceremony, Samad was selected among multiple nominees and presented with Modeling One FAA Culture Award by Deputy Administrator Michael Huerta and Western-Pacific Regional Administrator William Withycombe.

Samad was honored with this specific award for his collaborative success with management by working with the Western Pacific Region’s Public Affairs Office during the recent furloughs and representing the FAA in various media outlets. He continues to network with NATCA member and non-member employees, legislators, management at all levels, the public, and with non-governmental organizations such as the Airports International Council (AIC-NA) and the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).

“The creation of the award category itself speaks a lot for the vision of our Regional Administrator and the degree to which the need and desirability of working in collaboration is being recognized in AWP,” Samad said.

The awards were voted by peer nomination and Samad received a plaque (pictured below) for his award, Modeling One FAA Culture.
