South Florida Holds NATCA Fishing Tournament
Wednesday, June 29, 2011

This past Friday, June 24, South Florida NATCA Fishing Tournament participants were all treated to "tight lines and gin clear water" as nine teams competed for $1,600 in prize money (and a few extra side bets). More than 55 NATCA members attended the weigh-in and after-party, hosted by ZMA and MIA NATCA Locals and the fishing teams, at Hog Heaven Bar and Grill.

At the end of the day, the TMB Team "Reel Control" (Capt. Kyle Krchheiner and Mates Amy Lewallen, Corey Black and Devon Troyer) posted a nice 21-pound dolphin. But...that wasn't quite enough to top MIA Team "Catnip" (Capt. Scott Pearson and Mates Don Daniels and Chris Holt), which bested the competition with a 56-pound wahoo.

It seems that "schoolie" dolphin (mostly in the 10-pound range) were the catch of the day for most teams. In fact, every team caught fish!

Next year's tournament is scheduled, as usual, for the last Friday in June: June 29, 2012. Information listed below. We hope to see you there!
