NATCA Celebrates 24th Anniversary!
Thursday, June 16, 2011

This weekend, NATCA pauses to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the FLRA certification of election results that established the union as the exclusive bargaining representative of FAA air traffic controllers.

More than 80 percent of all controllers voted in NATCA's certification election. On June 11, 1987, the votes were tallied -- 7,494 yes votes and 3,275 no votes. It was a winning margin of 70 percent.

With such a sizable percentage of our membership having joined NATCA within the past five years, we thought on this occasion it would be educational to offer our readers a full chapter on this glorious part of our history as printed in our official history book, "Against The Wind: AtheW_Chp3LOW.pdf

("Against the Wind" in its entirety may be found in the Communications, Publications section of the NATCA public site.)
