CFS 2011 Update
Thursday, December 02, 2010
NATCA's annual Communicating for Safety conference is scheduled for March 21-23, 2011, and registration for the event is now open!
As always, you can register for CFS right up until the day of the conference. Remember, however, that you have to register for the conference AND you have to put your name on the list if you want to get official time for attending. If you want to get duty time, the agency requires earlier notification. Without exception, if you want to receive duty time for the conference, you must fill out and submit this form no later than January 28. This means, that even if you're not sure you'll be able to attend, you should fill out and submit the form before the deadline "just in case."
A total of 24 hours of excused absence may be granted to allow attendance at the conference on March 21-23. If an employee's RDO falls on one of those days, they will need to make an RDO swap in order to receive excused absence. If an employee is working a 10-hour CWS on those days, they may request two hours of leave each day or request to change their schedule to work five eight-hours days that week. If operational requirements are met, requests to change to eight-hour days will be approved.
In accordance with Article 29 Section 6 of the ATCS Agreement, and Article 29 Section 8 of the Architects and Engineers Contract, NATCA, at the national level, will be providing a list of employees desiring to attend at least 45 days prior to the conference. Attendees will also need to make their requests for excused absence through their FacRep at the facility level.
