Golden Flight Level 2011
Wednesday, December 29, 2010
The “Golden Flight Level” (GFL) is the Annual International Winter Ski Competition of Air Traffic Control and Aviation personnel from all over Europe and other countries as far away as Australia! For 35 years the GFL has taken place in fantastic ski resorts in Canada, Switzerland, Italy, Finland and other places.
In January 2011, the 36th annual GFL will make its first appearance in the United States at Lake Tahoe. You are invited to join in what is truly a very special event.
During the week long event there is skiing at the superb ski resorts at Lake Tahoe, and each night there is a large party with live music and a great time. Imagine sitting at a table conversing with controllers from the ARTCC in Moscow, Russia, or maybe the Tower in Barcelona, Spain, or Frankfurt, Germany. Perhaps even a fellow TRACON controller from Lisbon, Portugal, or Krakow, Poland. Better yet, how about all of them at once? This happens at the GFL. Each year more than 500 air traffic controllers have come together to share their experiences, compete in races, have fun, and most importantly…make new friends.
As of Dec. 15 about 400 controllers from around the world have signed up -- only about 15 of whom are from the U.S.! There is still some space left, so let's boost our participation! Sign up now for Team USA through the team captains (space availability limited).
